Beihua really took his loss badly. Granted his father abused him for losing when can't beat MC himself was also really counterproductive. Should've focused on training more and getting stronger as holding a grudge and letting his anger eat away at him just made him weaker.
I bet the MC sold the Frost Sword so cheaply before splitting posthaste was because his scabbard finally absorbed all the Qi from it.

Besides, those two would never admit what they were doing as they could get disowned and injured for dishonoring the family. As for the family the usual trope is public face, regardless of the truth, is more important so they'd rather believe her lie and cover it up than face the truth and do something about it. Like those stories hear about the favored son being spoiled rotten, gets into trouble often, and yet all the family does is enable him by covering up his shenanigans, slap on the wrist at worst, never making him take responsibility for his actions and laying the blame on everyone else, especially his victims.
