Devil cultivators are really a nuisance. In case anyone wondering the difference between an 'evil' Devil Cultivator and a 'good' Normal Cultivator is method of cultivation. Although frankly in most cases either cultivation method isn't really evil as it's usually the users who were corrupt and evil in the first place. Main difference from what I know (ie tip of the pyramid so just a little,) is that Cultivators usually advance in ranks with pills and meditation while learning various methods or in very rare cases making their own. Speed and power is determined by ability, stats, comprehension, and available ingredients to help speed things up or get passed bottlenecks. Devil Cultivators Demonic Qi seems to be of a opposite charge like Negative to Normal's positive Qi. While pills help meditation rarely does much and gain strength and reach breakthroughs in the middle of battle. Not sure but killing, accumulating souls of opponents (like ones MC exorcised from Uncle Meng in ch19,) and such could help strengthen them. However, the downsides of Devil Cultivation is it's incompatible with normal Cultivation, encourages fighting and killing, and tends to make the user more bloodthirsty and wild unless have a strong will and desire to stay in control. However, most Devil Cultivators are battle maniacs in the first place who enjoyed killing and not suited towards mediation so this method allows them to sate their bloodlust while getting stronger. Basically Devil Cultivators tend to be lone wolf, bloodthirsty, wild, savage, murder machines compared to normal Cultivators who are disciplined, controlled, able to work with others, and more acceptable in public. However, both have their share of evil, murderous, arrogant, and prideful individuals with few truly good and caring users.
