I do hope they make the father do something scummy. We didn't even really get any memories of him screwing over the MC, and both are as violent and relentless as each other, so it hardly seems like the father is 'that bad' comparably to the MC or as the setting dictates.
Right now it feels like the father is becoming a proud and doting father, meanwhile the son is doing everything while conspiring to murder him, and it would feel unsatisfying should the son succeed at this point. :thonk:

Also that hot eleven barbarian is totally going to be another love interest, isn't she?

I've had the feeling since I started reading that this is going to turn out like Reborn Rich where the MC initially fuckin loathes the central parent figure but manages to be ruthless enough to the shittier family members & change a few key things in the past via future knowledge so not only does the family head end up being more chill, but also acknowledges him and sets him up to be the next head (provided he keeps being appropriately ruthless where needed), so MC changes his strategy from "slit his throat while he sleeps" to just "aim to become the family head and change everything to be less shitty"

This story is just slightly bloodier so far lol

I mean, the whole point is that he framed MC and set him up to be executed despite his loyalty, because he sees his children as disposable. MC is currently useful to him, which is where his affection comes from, but he has no illusions that this has changed how the less capable children are treated. MC is just "one of the good ones" in his father's eyes, and there's no evidence that his attitude has actually changed in any meaningful way.
