About the piano strike, normally I see "DON!" for that. Though if you just want to skip the redraw, totally understandable
That's not bad. I'll probably update it to that.
I haven't been redrawing all the sfx for a few reasons:
1. There's too fucking many of them.
2. Sometimes it looks like shit in English or the onomatopoeia is way too wordy.
3. I'd like to be consistent. Either do all or none (unless there is an edge case where I think it adds to the translation).
4. I feel like the author's sfx style has really interesting calligraphy and changing it to some other font ruins some of the artistic intention. Sometimes I can find a font that really captures the style, but it's pretty hard.
5. Sometimes it genuinely doesn't fit. If I redrew and went with "dooooon," I feel like it would look like "doon," not "don." It's easier to stretch Japanese out over a page relative to English.
6. A lot of the time, I don't think it adds very much value. You can tell the sfx based on context a lot of the time. For example, sfx next to a music note while they are playing piano is probably the sound of piano. I could change it or I can just add it under the sfx without obstructing things too much.
I would say it's 70% to keep the style, 30% laziness (copium).
It would double the time to redraw if I did sfx as well.
