I think it's less gyaru to not gyaru and more the evilness of her spirit made her darker so removing the darkness made her look lighter, essentially the difference between an "evil" spirit and a "good" spirit where evil spirits are depicted as being dark in colour e.g. black, crimson, deep blues and any dark colour pretty much, and good spirits are lighter colours like white, gold, silver and the like. Gyarus just have deep tans so in a monochromatic medium like manga the difference between a spirit being evil and then being purified can make it look like someone being a gyaru and then not. Remember not all gyarus have tans or wear lots of makeup.
