Fumbled really bad huh. He might be a really nice guy but yeah he definitely isn't relationship material and ig he isn't even remotely interested in the idea of dating/getting married. Can't see him put in the effort in maintaining a relationship.

i dont even think this is something that should be called "fumbling" --he clearly didn't have a deep grasping of romantic relationships versus platonic or at least of their relative value to him and about whether or not he wants a "traditional romantic" relationship or what that entails. fumbling requires you "missing out on" or "messing up" something you wanted. its not really clear to fujii or the reader if a relationship like that is something he wants, this experience as whole served more as a learning experience for him, where he may have unwittingly hurt her (though if you ask me i think shes responsible for that somewhat in a way--not clearly telling fujii what she wants healthily and being unaccepting of what seems to be his fundamental nature)

Fuji didn't understand emotions, and she didn't understand that she had to teach him that.
His reaction after the brake up was very clear, he was shaken, the only time he was really lost that we have seen up to now, she was in fact his special person.

So good. The depiction of what it means to have a mature relationship. It's not about having 0 conflict. It's about understanding and being responsible of our needs while respecting the complexity of the other.
