I don't believe this has been mentioned in the notes before, but Witege does kill the son of best character and "father of all virtue", Rüdiger. His name was Nuodung. It technically happens in the Thidrekssaga, but in the Nibelungenlied, Gotelinde (Rüdiger's wife) remembers it sadly when she gives Hagen Nuodung's old shield (the gifts they shower the Burgundians in is part of where Rüdigers Blessing in RGS comes from, which I think
was mentioned in the notes). The quotations around "boy" on page 5 make me believe there's also a pun there about not having a penis anymore, since that's the genderbent Rüdiger.
