Attila has clairvoyance and he was aware of the original tale of the Nibelungield in a parallel world, what you all saw in the vision is how the story plays out for real. Everything he does is influenced by that timeline he saw and in there he loved Kriemhildr even tho that version of her was basically just using him to get her revenge. This scanslation team has gone through great lengths to explain at the end who everyone is and where they came from so honestly yall should brush up on your European Folklore.
