@Flashplayer0CD Luckily he seems to have awesome plot-armor. His timing is shit, yet he nonchalantly keeps nosing around everywhere, realistically speaking he should be buried six feet under by now..

I can't wait to see whats gonna happen. MC's luck is miserable, but he is (by far) not an idiot. He does stupid things and its not like he thinks ahead, but when its a stressed situation, seems like he can manage the things (like the "phonecall" when the giant was in front of his door).

Theory:
The old man is part of the cleared out maffia. He is the one who trained the hitman/s. The ghost pointig down, cause the butcher is in the basement with the "street family" kids. They were connected to someone in the maffia (maybe family member) and the hitman didnt wanted to kill them (for some unspoken reason) so he took them to the old guy who "looks after them". At ch17 we saw them together, and they call the old man a pervert but we don't see him doing anything. What if he is not a pervert, but instead trying to make a killer from the smallest kid? Thats why the older brother says "cant you go easy?" thats why they didn't run away. Not because they couldn't but cause its not necessary bad for them. They are not hostages, they are "under protection", maybe they are protected from the guy who called the termination of the maffia.
And the ghosts: They appeared not when the butcher moved in, but when the girl died cause she was close to him. As the story goes on, its like there are more and clearer eyes. They are more annoying, they are closer to the Mc. The gosts needed someone to die so they can become "closer" to him. And as the connection happened, they can show more from themself.

Why'd he go there? Because he's the joke. There's a lot of stupid decisions he can make, and he keeps making them. The only smart thing he did here was check the ghosts at the landlord's apartment, which told him everything he needed to know.
