Still don’t see a point in this flashback though except that Ngan referencing her crushing cockroaches before. Already knew she was narcissistic and if she really only cares about him making her look good she could go for any other “slob” off the street.

Based on everything, It just feels like in my opinion they’re going for a twisted relationship where she does care for him under everything, but I don’t really care for her and as a manipulator her “manipulations” don’t feel interesting or smart and rather cause me to feel annoyed over Ngan’s continued stupidity over the years.

Idk if the author will "redeem" her, depends on how comedy leaning it'll still be but I suppose it would be different if Her childhood friend got married with kids as opposed to them ending up together like the cliche kinda storytelling would lead to

this kinda flashback does make her seem worse versus "simply an idiot" like the very first chapters where she was like "when is he going to ntr me" or so lol. altho i wonder if we'll get a chapter of her mom currently and what her (moms) attitude towards mc is

well this does take place in vietnam, you see the same saying in JP too/asian cultures where it's like "get married and have 1-2 kids by the time ur 30" or so. When i was younger my mother told me to marry a rich white guy (well the viet word she used was "american" but she meant "white" )

I mean that's good advice in general for both men and women, people putting off kids so long isn't good for you or the kids. You should have your kids in your 20s ideally because that's when you have the energy to look after them instead of when you're in your 30s and constantly tired. That doesn't mean you hit your peak at 30 though, it means you should get the important stuff done when you're at your peak and before things really start to go down hill.

It's the same for men except men reach their physical peak around the same time as women but they reach their social peak much later (women's social peak is at the peak of their fertility, for men it's at the peak of their career).
