She's so dumb. (lol) You've got to advertise. She should have taken out an ad in the local newspaper (or if there's some kind of town bulletin board, if they don't have the printing press yet), and also hired someone to stand in front of the shop to grab the attention of passerby, and had a big sign with "GRAND OPENING" and "See Exotic Marvels Inside" and stuff like that.

You can't just open up a shop and expect people to come on their own when they've never even heard of the place. Gotta be attention-whoring at the beginning, and then let word of mouth do the rest once you get over the initial hump at the start.

I don't think the math adds up with that price, the price of gold per ounce (or per 28.3 grams) minimum from 2015 forward was around $1,300 (not including this year) so that means those coins are around 1/5th of an ounce (or 5.7 grams)... Unless this manga was made in 2001 which is still hard to believe because gold was still around $400 and ounce then, making the coins 1/2 of an ounce (or 14.1) grams.


Edit : Gold was $1,300 an ounce from 2010 onwards also, but 2011-2013 had gold at around $1,800 an ounce

One thing you should think about is that if she plans to really make money out of the gold she will bring over from the other world to her original world, that would pretty much cause the gold's value to drop over time. It's simple supply and demand.

It's technically the same thing that happened when Spain during their hay days decided to bring a lot of silver from their colonies from around the world. They effectively made silver almost value-less because they saturated the market with supply (i.e the scarcity was gone). Mitsuha should also think of a process of how she will introduce this isekai gold to exchange for the original world money.
