I feel bad saying it, because nothing is specifically bad about this series, but goddamn, there hasn't been a series this Axe-able since Build King

The oneshot had a better opening by explaining things more clearly, but this serialization has more of a setup to go forward with.

the art is really good in terms of the character design, they all feel super fluid and pretty, but the plot itself is boring and generic. it reminds me of dandadan in those respects, but without the ecchi which I'm grateful for.

Hmm, this was really mid.
Art was passable and looks good, but definetely not especially beautiful, as the description claimed.
And the story was one I feel like I've read over hundred times already.
Suffice it to say that this is not something worth reading, as it lacks it's own personality.

Read haiiro no onmyouji instead, same genre, but does all things right that this didn't, while also having a good first hook

Reading this made me conscious of how rare male + male duos are in Jump. Recently it's been mostly boy + girl in the center of attention.

Maybe it tries to differentiate itself from Nue's Exorcist and make bromance instead of harem. And pull in some female jump readers, MC looks more attractive than usual MCs too.

Hmm... okay then. I'll give it a shot. Also looks like chapter 2 just came out.

Edit: You were right, I had similar thoughts after reading. It actually provided something of it's own, already in chapter 1. I expected him to get an easy way out and be forgiven by exorcists via compromise, but it went in different direction.
