Crazy mineral formation in industrial sites is very common. You'd be surprised by the kinds of pretty colored debris found in the runoff gunk after chemical cleaning of a coal plant's furnace.

I like how this manga motivates school kids to create bonds with university students to get acquainted with the science more quickly and better. In my time, the age gap seemed too large. Also, I have already written about it many times earlier, but I just can’t help but admire how perfectly the author illustrates this story. Not only to write manga about your favorite topic, but also so perfectly implement it to life, continuous Win Win.

These girls could make a small fortune by collecting and selling that much zincite.

Most zincite that has ever been on the market came from a factory in eastern Europe that was shut-down many years ago over environmental concerns.

The Franklin mine allows you to go dig there in the debris piles left over from the mining. I used to go there all the time as a kid! One of the few places where you can find minerals that glow under UV light! So cool seeing it mentioned!

The taste would be metallic. In the case of zincite with manganese impurities, the taste might also be like that of oily vinyl. A reddish zincite would have iron or manganese impurities.

Zinc oxide, in powder form, is used as a food additive. Concentrated, it is said to have a metallic taste.

I presume that you're familiar with a taste of iron.

Manganese is said to taste like an oily vinyl or metallic.

Manganese is vital to life, but the quantities in which manganese are toxic for most people are lower than those for zinc oxide or for iron.

Anything yellow, orange, red or purple found in an industrial site, especially in bright and saturated hues, it's most likely highly toxic
