It's pretty crazy that revenge killing was only outlawed in 1978 in Japan. For example, Microsoft was founded in 1975, which required personal computers to exist. So, revenge killing was still legal in Japan when the first nerds were gleefully tapping their keyboards, or, in other words, revenge killing was still legal during this same modern (even called postmodern) time we are living now. Japan wasn't any backwards place in the 1970's, obviously. It was already an electronics superpower by that point, among other things. Yet revenge killing was legal. Go figure.
