Tony stark and the likes are "fictional" levels of smart and also an example for dumb writers writing "smart" characters. You are told they are through their inventions and shit but that's pretty much it. Rest of the time they do pretty retarded mistakes for someone who are suppose to be smart.

For characters who showcases actual intelligence like say, Sherlock Holmes, Arthur Conan Doyle was a literal genius.

Actually it's not "completly" dumb from a teen's perspective with a new relationship, his life change a damn lot in just over 1 month, he got abandonned by his family, got a new future decided for him, a wife he does love but also without his consent at first.
Now he really love "her" and not the image he had of her when she was just a "crush" and as a teen in a new relationship as intense as that one(They live together and she's constantly lowering his pitifully low SAN points xD) it's not THAT stupid to think bro has a hard time "for now"(i hope) deciding which to put first, his future with her or the her right now.
