Can't believe someone felt the same about this manga as me. I've always had this uncomfortable feeling about it. The whole MC and FMC relationship is absolutely wrong, began on a totally imbalanced power dynamic and everyone just brushes it off like nothing. And it's always dealing with the shallowest of feelings when there is so much real baggage behind that no one seems to want to address.

It doesn't even have a drama tag....

I'm pretty sure this whole plot point is an excuse to land readers straight into the fantasy. But considering that him being bought off didn't really permeate into the rest of the narrative and characters, it's not too different than the manga that

• have the rich beauty academia queen fall in love with MC straight from the start
• have some popular girl force him to try out a relationship and he ends up liking her back

Functionally, they are the same. But this manga still carries the weight (if you don't ignore it) of serious ethical problems. I guess you and me couldn't ignore those details even if we tried.
