@Ultenth Yeah the katana was great for the era and region it was in, but they just never really developed it further. Lack of resources and lack of necessity.

what they lack in versatility and destruction compared to western swords the make up for in agility and attack
because of the inborn traits japanese warriors developed a bunch of sick techniques
much like greatsword users of europe developed brutal one hit anti armor techniques which involved the swordguard
