Reading this manga made me think…if Japan, rather than getting involved in WW2, had simply held on to its colonies…Manchukuo would probably still exist today. I know they made the alliance partially because the other powers wouldn’t recognize their puppet state…..but I think post-WW2, looking at the strength of Communism in the surrounding countries…it would have been fairly easy to make an alliance with the United States where they happily funnel missiles and war machines to an “ally” who “maintains peace in the region.”
