Not to be mean, but I would have more preferred she failed instead of that asspull.

I mean yeah she's the MC but theres no way it wraps up that smoothly when she'd already made the mistake of not finding the other bleed.

Its feeling like the MC won't actually learn anything from this and "be true to herself after a pep talk from Gilla" since it seems like she didn't really suffer a punishment yet (she saved the dragon AND her friend only got a broken arm).

i see what you mean! i personally don't mind too much since this is still very early on in the story and it's only luca's second mission. I think having two dragon deaths back to back would be too demoralizing, and wouldn't really serve as a good lesson either, cause then she'd be getting punished on top of having failed to save a patient!

Sure but if you look at the last dragon death, it went the way she wanted, meaning she "reunited" the dragon with his former rider.

When an asspull like this happens I just worry its gonna be a trend when so far the world building has been pretty good.

I'm not sure I agree with your read of the situation. This doesn't feel like one of those stories where the MCs immature ideals come out the other end unscathed. With how they handled the deal with Gilla how how she felt about the MC at first, there was nuance in it. Even if Gilla gives her some kind of pep-talk, I don't see the MC feeling guiltless. It'll affect how she makes decisions in the future.

And sure, the save this time around might be BS but we're still early in the story. I think it's ok to have wins like these as long as lessons are learned before the rug gets ripped from underneath and real consequences happen. We're still in the build up and setting the status quo.

I really hope the trend won't happen, it would be bad ngl

True. I'll see how I feel in the next chapter or two with the aftermath, it is a bit early to worry.
