While I'm glad they've resolved the S-rank plotline. It still rankles that an adventurer has to jump through so many hoops. Why? The kaiju on the horizon isn't going to care if the adventurers have the proper paperwork/rank. The adventurer simply steps up and either overcomes the threat or does not.

Shouldn't S-rank adventurers be an incredibly rare and valuable resource for the country and the guild? Having applicants travel to another town (from the capital no less) and when they can't make it due to a friggin' Kaiju attack saying "Oh well, guess we don't need you that much, better luck next time." seems super dumb.

I agree. Why is the 'Headquarters of the Guild' not in the 'Capital'? Instead, it's far away in the '2nd Largest Capital'. A dumb decision by the author. If they were smart enough, why not give the authority to promote S-Ranks in the actual capital—you know, where the King and Queen reside? I know it's for the plot or whatever but, WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE IN ATERRE?! OF ALL PLACES, WHY THE SECOND LARGEST CAPITAL! INSTEAD OF THE ACTUAL CAPITAL?!

it helps drive tourism in other areas too and the Capital has the Mage's Academy and the Royal Guard(quite literally their Job) whereas adventurers are generally not affiliated to one country, I understand wanting the HQ of the adventurers guild be in the Capital of any country but over all I think this is better.
it also makes it easier to defend places that would otherwise not have enough defenses, since the guild can just have the adventurers go from there instead and evenly spread aid
