I thought it was weird Gaile was waiting that long to pull yet another crazy tool to win the battle. Has he... gasp finally met actual difficulty in this situation? Nah. He'll probably pull out the sword he just made. It's Chekhov's sword and will be used at some point, maybe here. It's the perfect meat-grinder tool best used to fight like a berserker surrounded by enemies. I think he has it with him, and it's stored in some convenient space-saving tool which he has shown Maura before.
