Btw you can't just go to your police friend and ask to find a car. Just for surveillance cameras access you need permission from higher ups and open case. And cameras won't help outside of big cities and main roads. There is no way you can track car in some random town in Japan without region-wide search operation. Besides, how he did find car if it was sold it immediately? And how did he know that car is already sold in the first place? Well, I guess after that chapter with stalker girl in cafe it's kinda pointless to expect something believable.
