Her mom has a point tho. She needs to snap back to reality. If she wants to rebel or follow her passion for real, she should go to art school rather than technical school (in a mechanic program, really?).
@karachuN, chise's mom didn't even want her to go to an art school tho? if chise had gone to an art school she probably likely would've acted the exact same. her dynamic with chise is one rooted in controlling all elements of her life and either subtly or explicitly punishing chise for going against her. that sort of behaviour has lasting consequences even into the victims adulthood, and even now its reflected in how chise is still unsure of herself, has underdeveloped social bonds with her peers, and can't properly articulate her own wants aside from her feelings for takaoka. when you consider where chise was in the first chapter, with a social and personal life which was entirely shaped by her mother's plans for her, then the fact that she chose to look and do what she's doing now of her own volition is a step in the right direction
wait. I thought she was applying for visual arts stream in the same technical school as him?? Or maybe I misinterpret it from the 1st chapter... edit that's why I got confused reading this chapter
where she got into the same class with him in mechanical stream, which is contradicting with her talent in visual arts
