I don't get the appeal of drill head, the switch up on hinako needs to be studied because for me her unique interaction with mc was the reason I even started and stuck with this manga
I think a good portion of it is due to the fact that we've seen more character growth from her than other love interests so far. The other part is the chemistry shown between her and Itsuki.

Could you tell me what kind of person Tomonari-san is?

Fair, but I don't agree with the slandering of Hinako just because you guys happen to like the drill head more, she didn't even do anything wrong and y'all are treating her like Voldemort just cause you have a preference for someone else (not saying you specifically btw, just the general consensus)

So, how are we all planning to cope when she inevitably loses?
There might be doujins or fanfictions somewhere...I'm going g to repeat myself, but I really wish we get a what if chapter for the losing heroines.

Anyway, we are getting Tennouji's past now, and I guess this is what will convince Tomonari to save her. It helps that her parents seem supportive enough to not force her in an arranged marriage she doesn't want when there is a perfectly obvious candidate to be her boyfriend.

Honestly I hope the editor pushes the author towards a Tenouji ending. Hinako is more like a clingy little sister character, which is fine to have that dynamic, but doesn't work for a romance partner. Sadly, unless like 90% of the readership in Japan for the series were to write in to the publisher suggesting this is what they would like to see (not gonna happen), this will likely not happen. Global readers opinions won't matter to them for sure so no help there. :meguuusad:

It's always lonely to lose a friend.

And now someone else knows. But I get the impression she had more of a choice than she realised.

Being adopted to carry a noble line isn't that rare, though usually that's more about a male heir if there isn't one within the bloodline. And most of the time those were relatives of some degree, like a branch house. That's about European nobility, which manga tends to emulate to some degree, but in the end it's still Japanese, which may work differently. The situation here seems more to adopt someone to forge a bond between families, considering the dedication to him she claims she needs.

Edit:

Accusing others of slandering and then you come and claim that "y'all are treating her like Voldemort". That's the dumbest thing I've read this week. The general consensus as I've seen is that people actually like Hinako, which is a far cry from your insane exaggeration. And then you just hit my comment with the dumb reaction as revenge just because you disagree. Talk about hypocrisy. You're anything but fair.

For me it's exactly that she's a slow burner and what we have rn is her learning to be less of a blob, she's not really interesting. Which is usually done because FMC usually have a way longer period to expand as a character but considering were only volume 2 into the LN, Hinako at least for me is just cute girl with no real drive. There's nothing that makes me think anything but she's there. But to each their own. When Hinako gets her time. I'll think better of her as were so early in the story.

Dang, Tennouji feels she's obligated to accept arranged marriage so her adoption into the family meant something to her foster parents, that seems to be what I'm getting from this before seeing the next chapter. At least the mother encouraged her to be more independent and speak her mind of what she really wants, meaning she's not as uptight and strict about following the norms in the nobility as the next lady. I'm curious about what the father's stance on this is, especially when he was much more likable and chill on his first appearance, compared to FMC's dad whose desire to control his daughter's every nook and cranny of her life and mold her into his successor puts him on the list for worst father in manga.

I have a feeling that while peaceful and loving on the surface, Tennouji's family never had a proper sit-down and talk about her, why she was adopted, and what the parents really want from her. While unintentional, it has led Tennouji to be navigating through egg shells around her own parents and not step out of the line she had set herself, instead of her parents.

Though I have low expectations it comes to this, but I really hope Tennouji has that talk with her parents at some point. She's quite blessed to be taken into such a household.

Arranged marriages. :(

Also I think there's a slight mistake on page 13. "Looks" instead of "look".

Tennouji: "I am adopted."
Tomonari: "Hi, adopted. I'm innevitable. Adopted? Actually I'm also adopted by Konohana household. Well, not exactly adopted, but still."
