So, secret assassin family is created because the MC is dead. Interesting.
That assassin family was founded long before the MC and current King met. This is the current head of the family getting payback for the King/MC and cleaning up his fuckup, since his job was to have prevented all of that from happening in the first place.

As I'm going back through the story doing a refresh on characters, I'm reminded of several things:
  • Unlike many GS stories, she MC isn't an adult man's mind in a girls body. She's more like a regular young girl, but informed by her past self, and having been through the tragic loss of her parents, then living on the streets, then going to work for Urband (which is affectionate, but dark).
  • Core of the story is her strong personal connections with the people around her (and in the past as Albright). The Black Knight Unit was her family in the past; the Urband household is her family in the present. (After having lost her loving birth parents.) She's bright and friendly without being over the top -- she gives affection and receives affection in return.
  • Theme of being pulled between her past and present. Much as she cares about the people from the past, she still enjoys her current life/self more.
  • Theme of contrast between frontal sword and back sword, with Maria acting as bridge between them.
  • Plenty of fighting and plenty of comedy.

Now that I've waded through reminding myself of past stuff... This chapter actually had some lore drops:
  • In past, Avein had Arnold Urban investigate Teresa. He probably discovered that her younger brother was being used as hostage against here. Then if he could rescue the brother, then Teresa wouldn't be bound by the hostage and so could (more trustably) be brought to King Avein's side, and thus no longer be a threat to Albright.
  • Only when Arnold goes to rescue the brother he find that he's already been tortured and raped to death.
  • Urband then discovered that Oliver was to blame, but for some reason sat on that information until now to kill him. (Possibly Oliver was supplying needed information?)
  • "Erzwein, then king's younger brother" may have some connection to this. BUT older royal family should all be dead, so IDK.
Other Plot Points
  • Previously Maria and co. cased a site where illegal auctions were being held. But this was just a scouting mission. So the actual busting heads will happen later, and not necessarily by Maria &co. (Target of that mission was a guy named Harper.)
  • There's a tension between the public military orders ("frontal sword") and the hidden, dirty work spy/assassin work that the Urband family. Maria belongs to Urband family, but Lloyd (frontal sword) has been using her rather freely. Urband is not against that, but is making clear that Maria belongs to them and the Lloyd, etc. had better take care with her and treat her right. And return her on time, damnit!
  • There's some other investigation going on. Garwin (known bad noble) has the poisons. Erzwein (see above).
  • Sexy blonde man is Urband's son. Matthew (seen on the carriage) is his "chamberlain" (but like all Urband employees is also spy/assassin. Looks like he's been on a spy mission, but now is going off to pick up Peach Pink gang members who Maria tamed/converted a couple of chapters back -- they'll now go work for Urband as well. (Note that Maria/Albright used to recruit guys like the Peach Pink gang into her/his knight unit -- decent guys but a little rough.
  • Guido suspects the connection between Maria and Albright.
  • And if you're wondering why everyone doesn't figure it out -- it's because Maria mentally is a 16 year old girl, and very much gives off the vibe of one -- quite contrary to Albrights's manliness. So rationally, Albright's friends suspect it, but at the same time their intuition is usually saying "No way!" (except for part of the time when intuition says "She's definitely him.")
  • And we get a lore drop about Albright having a sister, which is new info. (But possible, since we know that he was orphaned. In that case, remaining kids could easily be split up.)
  • Overall, the story is split about equally between Maria's story, and the complicated skullduggery going on in the kingdom. So, if you've lost track of past events, it's easy to get lost here.
A further point: Urband/household family clearly views Maria very fondly. We know that they treasure Relena in particular since Relena is a bright innocent (unlike everyone else in Urband household). But they might value Maria for a similar reason -- although Maria is very good at killing, she doesn't enjoy killing -- unlike everyone else in Urband family/household who do enjoy it. (Of course, Maria is pretty adorable too.)

On one hand, getting back after so long to a chapter full of lore stuff is a bit heavy. But on the other enough context is given to understand the new stuff and place it roughly into the continuity. Can't say I recognise all characters and every single minor plot detail, but it makes enough sense.
