During the first chapter or so he said that his body didn't have magic power but had tremendous spiritual power instead. I guess the divine demon power can be used to fuel the techniques he already learned in his previous life

I think onmyouji abilities are more like techniques rather than innate power. Anyone can probably learn them with enough training or knowledge
