even the mangaka is confused as to where the story is about to go toward.
There are elements of romance. There are elements of comedy. Don't bother yourself with the rest, and the definition fits!
Yeah, that's my reaction to this toon too. Good bet, that's the reaction of everyone reading this.
It's like you're presenting a nuke to your enemy and showing its power by blowing up a vacant space. That is how you write OP characters, you don´t go saying they are OP or so the "you are weak" type of bad guys, you just need one "clarification", after all the problems with the other heroes, now we know that this party could do the easy thing and just off everyone, but they rather talk it out... and they are so OP than even the kingdom gives them this leeway, now wee know that the MC does not need flashy magic and probably he uses it because is the type Shaayu likes, instead he can make the heroes do the deed themselves... and now we can go back to the slice of life stuff
So, basically, like the US to Japan, twice. It's like you're presenting a nuke to your enemy and showing its power by blowing up a vacant space.
"See that? I can do that to you, to everyone you love, and everything you held dear and call it a day, but I don't wish to do more harm than necessary, so why don't we talk things out?"
When you have greater power over your enemy, you have the ability to control the war. Once they see that, that's when they're 'willing' to talk peace negotiations.
Didn't Japan support Nazi Germany during WWII though? Moreover, I heard Japan did some pretty inhumane things to both war criminals and their own citizens during that time (I won't mention what those are out of preventing spread of misinformation, I only just heard about it). They still have a sort of social-hierarchy in their culture that may be derived from their imperialist times, and while it still has some chronic issues, I agree it's better now compared to back then if they were really like that. So, basically, like the US to Japan, twice.
The first time was to force them out of Isolationism. They, unfortunately took that as the normal and appropriate response to people saying "No," which lead to Pearl Harbor when the US refused to continue selling steel. The second time was to end WW2... Unfortunately the US killed far too many people, fortunately Japan decided it wasn't worth seeing if the US could stomach dropping more...
Well, except, in both cases it wasn't "here is what we could do," but, "that is what we can do more of."
I'm honestly just grateful that the end result was what it was. Japan stopped being Isolationist, and ended their Imperialism, then basically made friends with everyone(*) leading to the Japan that exists today. Sure, I would have preferred it to involve drastically LESS violence.
It has identity aplenty. What it lacks is direction.Yeah this confirms it, author doesn't know what to do with the serialization the manga lacks any identity whatsoever
