I dont really feel bad doe Ono thoygh, because he, while already aware of the situation, is still trying to get in between Ikumi and Chichaya for selfish reasons. I don't mind his love at all, the issue is that he's perfectly aware how Ikumi has changed, how his feelings evolved, and what Chichaya means to him (as well as the fact that Chichaya is a good person, who honestly protects Ikumi). And yet, he still tries to get in between them, causing more problems. And it's not just the relationship he's trying to mess with, it's their very lives, too.

I don't like the sneaky, slimy even, way he's doing things, is all.

@monozuki i understand what you re trying to say but at the same time you should look at it from his point of view. Love is blind ; Ono has only eyes for ikumi and no one else. He doesnt see anything else. lets cut him some slack shall we? He would never hurt ikumi , he means the world to him. He would never intentionally try to get him in danger. He is not " sneaky, slimy" .

Nontheless, i ship chihaya X ikumi.

But i still feel bad for the second male leads...sighs..

Yeah, I see your point, especially from the hindsight, having read through more chapters by now, my issue with Ono has been basically resolved and now I can see him the way you describe it, no problem.
But earlier, before he has a chance to, well, grow some, he was walking a really fine line between being devoted and creepy (or, my 'sneaky, slimy' from the previous comment). Love is indeed blind, but blindly loving does not justify everything. Especially for an adult (a brat is another story and one might be more forgiving when it's a youth that behaves in such a way). And also, not having concious intentions to hurt does not mean his behaviour was not hurtful - and that's also something he should've been thinking about. Especially after he became aware this was quite literally a life-and-death situation he was inserting himself into.

What this basically boils down to, is that early Ono irritates me due to his selfishness.

As he learns to overcome that, I no longer have an issue with him.
