It's alright so far. I'm not a fan of the "mysterious drug turns people into monsters" trope, and I wish there was some reasoning given as to why the goddess is so weak.

To add to things we don't like: The samurai, splitting a bear in one swing, and the characters admit it was without magic.
How? Nonsense. I'd have much preferred the MC to learn magic, in order to tackle these new challenges.
