Hrm... I'm a little mixed on this one so far, though only 6 chapters are out as of writing, so that could easily change in either direction.
Positives
For positives, the artstyle is scrumptious. The characters are all so soft and expressive. The designs of said characters are also quite charming, with endearing personalities to match.
I also heavily fw the vibes towards the end of Ch. 1 and at the start of Ch. 2, since horror is up there for one of my favorite genres, and I
live for that angst.
Negatives
As for the negative, hoo boy

. Okay, so, grooming, right? Not good. Very bad. No bueno. We can agree on that, yes? This manga deals with that topic.
Now, when dealing with this specific topic, there are exactly 2 ways to make this Pandora's Box work without it being offputting (in a bad way).
You can ignore the box, tape it shut, and shove it in a dark corner somewhere. This
will have a few readers raise their eyebrows at it (that's me, I'm that reader

) , but it'll just be a minor

problem that ultimately won't weigh
too heavily on the story you're trying to tell.
The other, and in my opinion, much
cooler way to handle it is to open the box, leaning into it in one way or another. Have that be the central topic of the narrative, whether it be a psychological horror or whatever else you wanna do with it.
As for this manga, well, it kinda starts off with the second angle, leaning towards horror and even having the mc verbally address the Pandora's Box directly. However, after maybe the first bit of Ch. 2, it's kinda just entirely forgotten about in favor of a more generic romance.
This is the worst of
both worlds, as
not only did you directly address the box, but you
then proceed to pussyfoot around it and drop the horror aspect completely.
You can't have your cake and eat it, too. You opened the box, now you have to deal with the groomer-shaped elephant in the room.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, we
are only 6 chapters in, so who knows? Maybe we
do end up going back into that cool horror shit from Ch. 1. For now, I'm cautiously optimistic, and I'll stick around for a bit longer to see if things get better

.
For now,
errrrrr, a
6.5/10, I guess??? I don't feel confident in giving it a higher rating, but I don't want it to be low, either. Idk, we'll have to wait and see, I suppose.
