I think the mangaka wanted to create a character who can push the backs of this timid bunch but Takae's personality is just too unlikeable.

@Strongstache: i neither like nor hate him, it's just the additional of this character is kinda unnecessary, and he's annoying indeed. I have the feeling he was the reason why this series was axed

I don’t know about you guys, but none of the characters here are unlikable.
Especially the male equivalent of a gyaru—he’s speeding up the process.
I’m guessing the author added him to accelerate the progress of their relationship and voice thoughts for the group, even if it’s a bit crass or informal.
He’s also like the group’s dog: actions over thoughts.
