This is getting wild, a lot of directions moving at once, and the whole "secret ghostwriting contest" event happening in a flashback. I think the overwhelming feeling of chaos is probably intentional, it's what Mariko is going through too - the fact that we know even MORE than she does I think is to help us catch up to that feeling. I just wonder if things can get sorted out OK.

Honestly, just put the ghost district full of petty misers in the trash along with the bitchy cheating daughter-in-law. They're both insufferable and don't deserve a fraction of the kindness and patience they're being shown.

I know this manga is all about seeing the good in people and giving them another chance, but it should also acknowledge that sometimes, you can't make people change if they don't want to change. God helps those who help themselves and all that.

I agree with you but there's people who want change stuck in the same boat as those misers and they'll drown too if the whole boat isn't rescued. I think they're worth the effort, even if you end up scooping up the others unintentionally with them.

Hatsuko is a in interesting one. 🤔 It sounds like there's more to their home life than Mariko was aware of. I'm not sure how my opinion will change as more comes out but it might end in Hatsuko divorcing and freeing herself from a place she didn't feel at home in, and Mariko reconciling with her family maybe. Not everyone in this story so far has actually had a happy ending.

You're not wrong ! It's just so immensely frustrating to see those boneheads who are supposed to be responsible for the district just shrug and spit on the goodwill of others.

A divorce certainly might be a healthy option for everyone involved, though to my knowledge, Japan is very rigid about that, culturally. A lot of people would rather have an affair than a divorce.
