@0takuDragonSlayer Their support for Saotome's boxing career is pretty much entirely to make themselves look good and boost their careers to better heights. They're also the primary enemies Saotome and Satoru have to hide their relationship from because they'd definitely do whatever they could to end it, so the "town idol" can remain pure regardless of how she feels about all that. When they were revealing how much Saotome's potential gives them erections at their personal gains they can make of her, they seemed to be comparing Mito to her quite unfavorably. I'm sure there's a reason Mito tried to get the hell out of that police station pretty fast when the mayor showed up, and then she ran right into the principal who started belittling her for dressing too casually as a high school club manager.
TL;DR Basically they're two faced and scummy
@beperov @dethduck I think it looks like she's just lighting a fire under Saotome's ass to motivate her, though? She saw potential in Saotome during that sparring match. The thing about coming to her gym is probably so she could keep a closer eye on Saetome and raise her up to the point of a rival even faster.
It's also undeniably true that the school club they're in is kind of a poor excuse of a training location for a potential Olympic competitor. Have you not seen that run down shack they use? Everything in there is probably still somewhat damaged from that typhoon. It might be rude to mention it the way she did, but there's definitely better environments and more qualified trainers. Just 'cause we all like the rom com boxer and trainer dynamic doesn't mean anything she said was wrong. It's not like the author would ever even act on any of that in a way that completely pushes the two apart for good, they're the center of the whole series. Sounds like a good way to torpedo your own sales, y'know? If Saotome did end up joining that gym, Satoru would probably end up going along too and proving that he's actually a pretty competent trainer. Might even be a foot in the door for a future career.

I honestly just never took them seriously as antagonists mostly because they aren't around that much. Plus as a nooby Boxer in training(irl) myself I just liked the idea of having the benefits of such connections and positive support.
I legitimately forgot that these 2 can pose a potential problem, like expell the MC based on false charges for instance. So my apologies

@0TakuDragonSlayer Yeah, attempted expulsion was one of the things I was thinking might happen to Satoru too if those two found out about the relationship. But with the mayor in on it, possible they'd go even further with the dickery. The club advisor/coach would probably take some heat too, she not only knew about it but even had a hand in it starting.
