Another layers to how Hirano reacts is it’s more that he’s surprised that he’s _willing_ to say it. “He’s ok with telling me this?” Is another possible translation.

...I’ve memorised big swaths of this manga in Japanese. Fav comic of all time.

I really like the attention to detail that the artist puts into the side convos to make them sound more like meaningful conversations. Really the icing on the cake to the lovely story! Just wanted to take a second to appreciate that small but nice detail.
