well if the title is accurate their current afterlife is Purgatory, a waystop for souls before moving to final afterlife, probably in this setting its to bestow final judgement upon the souls who aren't truly good/evil by giving them another chance and setting them up with their ideal start

Guren's afterlife family probably due to not releasing their grudges in life and seeking revenge were deemed irredeemable and sent away while Akiomi is on a path of redemption, but being not fully there was sent back to continue on for further observation

@Dramen Yeah, I had the same theory when the guy was revived. The giveaway imo is that this place is "paradise" in the truest sense of the word. You can be who you want to be and the world adapts to your needs. People who can't move on from their past lives and commit evil deeds will be judged upon their death. The guy died but he was living as an author and hasn't done anything evil (or good) so he was thrown back in until he clearly crosses the threshold between good or evil. The best thing they can do is move on and live a life full of good.

That being said the MC's friend is in a dangerous situation because he murdered a man (even though he revived) due to hate.
