love kamiyamas art (check twitter) and the story is really interesting, sure its way too short, generalises and pacing is way off but its a very interesting concept
I didn't know what to expect reading this, I just saw the pretty cover and decided to give it a go. An interesting concept and like the author said one that is challenging to execute. Not the concept I would have used for a one shot as it's extremely difficult to flesh out the themes it has in such a short amount of pages. Still, for what it is I think it was a decent attempt. The thing I would have liked to see is more complicated reactions to her disorder.
“Overcoming difficulties,” huh... I seem to encounter that phrase quite often these days. (Mostly in company slogans and ads.)
Anw, this manga wasn’t perfect but it was interesting to read.
It might be the limitation of pages but the story completely failed to mention her family. People usually take comfort in their family first, especially people with these conditions. Unless, of course, those 'families'are either not around or worse.
God, my eyes flooded with tears. 😭😭😭😭.
Seriously what a toxic di*ckhead ex boyfriend.....i wanna slap him so bad. Ah and i wanna hug her friend, she had precious friend.
@silas have you tried Asuperu Kanojo? It tells a story about a mangaka and an girl with asperger that suddenly ended up living together for various reasons. Check it here https://mangadex.org/title/38175/asuperu-kanojo
i know this manga has good intentions but like and this is gonna sound really bad, but i genuinely hate the trend of writing about neuroatypicality/ developmental disorders and such primarily to educate others as to the plight of the subject. it feels less as if the author is constructing a character and more as if they're reading out of a diagnostic pamphlet . its as if the author doesn't feel confident in their ability to empathize with an autistic character, and as a result they have to write them solely in terms of boxes ticked off on a psychiatrists checklist. like none of this feels like the way a human being self conceptualizes. that awkward textbook style of educational manga is fine when talking about like rugby or microbes but its dehumanizing when applied to a human being in a medium which is meant to like convey the human experience. i wish the author had spent less time copy and pasting the dsm v into text bubbles and more time actually thinking about how to make individual elements of the mc's express themselves through character action
oh wow a twenty something year old going after a nineteen year old is an abusive boyfriend??
On another note, I'm really glad Tatsuki has Aoi to help her out, and Friend A also looks like she's a good friend, if a little misinformed about stuff.
