That's what hooked me in this manga, it's clearly meant to be dark, but everyone is goofy
Much better than Gakkou gurashi's self-clickbait

Interesting. I initially thought it was some post-apocalypse story but that's not the case at all. It's some kind of secret government agency shenanigans involving alternate dimensions. I still don't get why they're collecting random junk though.

I just wish they'd make another season to cover the fake baby arc.

Would've also allowed the series to spread further by breaking out of the girls' love only zone.

I know this is supposed to be hyperbolic, but to be honest I think in context, they at least respect human lives in a degree better than what you just described here.

I mean, it’s just training since the age of 5 to 8 (mostly), and they don’t need to know about the secret about the dimensions back then, if they can’t take it, just put it on a resume about some kind of training camp or something. And it’s obviously not six months, since they mentioned that the 20 best girls only get recruited into the scavengers at the age of 12. That’s a really long time period.

That, and killing minors just because they’re weak in some way is just a bit too dark here, in a facility with zero men and only women, nonetheless. I don’t know how civilized the outside world is, but it can’t be as brutal as some kind of wasteland or a full on war.

And I know it’s not explicitly mentioned, but since lots of them get recruited when they’re barely in school age, they must have good education systems there. And it’s not too far-fetched either, government does have mandatory education systems so technically it’s an orphanage but in boot camp level, with extra dimensional exploration level exclusives if you do it well!

True, but if we treat their organisation as being a SCP Foundation equivalent, then keeping secrets is far more important then the human lives saved by those secrets, where not even the ethics committee can do much.

Where as the six months part represents the fact that the remaining 12 out of a 100 aren't chosen from 100 remainders, the 12 are the remainder that have bee whittled down throughout the process.

Of course, the whole joke hinges around the use of "culled",which has more sinister implications then simply dropping them.

I see, then it just may be lost in translation because the version I read (about the wording you mentioned) usually just meant something like being eliminated from a tournament. Very basic stuff if you ask me, and from the surface, it would just be like a boot camp competition that people can sign up to. If you’re not cut out to be it then you can just leave. Simple as that.

And I think it goes without saying, but I’m pretty sure if the girls can live a new life outside the organization with few issues once they collected the required money (1 million), then they’re certainly not concerned about the keeping of secrets, as far as we know.

Yeah, could go either way, since we're lacking a lot of specifics.
