This is the first manga explanation book I've read that left me more confused and less understanding of the subject material.
It was certainly... Something... When the author decided to include the actual DSM-IV symptoms right next to their mangazation, so I could directly see them misinterpret it - for example, "reserved" and "embodies a strange atmosphere"are not mentioned in the diagnostic criteria. Likewise, the author's "has no interest in sex" and the DSM-IV's "interest in shared sexual activities is slim, if any" may *sound* similar, but the latter's language is careful and distinct, while the former leaves room for confusion.
This is one of those things that, rather than bringing light to an lesser known topic, will leave a lot of anxious or socially insecure types thinking their shyer personalities are an indication of a personality disorder. Too much of these symptoms are described in ways that fall completely within the realm of neurotypicalness - "I don't like big crowds and lots of talking" "I get tired after eventful social activities""I space out." It feels too broad and generic to help with personal identification, especially since most of these involve schizoid-chan interacting with her friend(s), after all the emphasis on her allegedly being unable to do that. Most of the comics don't deal with symptoms that would stand out as unusual.

Idk, I came away from this thinking "so we're calling introverts schizoids now huh"

She is.. "Schizoid". Just Schizoid Personality, without the 'Disorder'. Being one myself, I honestly I wish I am as high functioning as Schizoid-chan.
If you want to have a definitive Schizoid experience: Put her alone in her bedroom all day; Disconnected from everyone, Absolutely zero friends, Zero motivation, passion, hobby, Constant feeling of uneasiness until her last breath.
Call me the person who ruins the fun.. but there's nothing cool, wholesome, or happy about it.
She'd fit better as Introvert-chan or something.

I know how belated of a reply this is, but in checking the author's twitter, they've referred to themselves as a schizoid for a long while now. Whether it's self-diagnosis or a professional one, who's an outsider to say? I'm not going to do armchair psychology on someone else, let alone someone who doesn't speak the same language as me. But I don't doubt that the webcomic is at least from the perspective of what being a schizoid is like to them, which I think is at least the key thing to take away.
