Another good one is up when I'm down. Cheers!

It hits me that this series is a work of fiction though.

Why couldn't they just listen without leaving some comments here and there. I hate it when they are doing that to me.

Too heavy for my tastes... Interpersonal relationship, ideologies, expectations, responsibilities... when you realized that what you believe in is "wrong" by everyone's standards, everything just seems to not matter anymore. People are too busy managing their own problems that they don't care about what's happening to anyone else.

Damn I was not prepared, I was like ready for something akin to Onizuka sensei (that would touch heavy topics but also lots of comedy) or even Komi san.
The way the parents reacted infuriated me... For stuff like this is good to have a best friend and not just friends.

The sociopathy of society presented here is exactly why I keep my distance from most people. It's also why people break down around me I just shut up and pay attention. This kind of shit drove me to misanthropy and it doesn't help that I've a nihilistic understanding of reality.

This world is cheep, meaningless and harsh beyond all applicable reasoning. My sisters have been physically and sexually assaulted by my mothers lovers and she choose to remain with them knowing this. When I was sexually assaulted by my best friend and martial arts instructor, I went to the police only to have them laugh at me because "men don't get raped"

After studying philosophy, I was able to come to terms who I am and where I'm at. I pay attention to world events and through it have come to understand the vileness of not just those in power but the average person. Honestly, for the most part I just want to be left alone.

Have a good one people, this manga dredged up a lot for me.

Now, I do wonder if this will be some sort of episodic story like "We shall now begin ethics" with the Janitor advising student's problems or that girl will be our MC and the Janitor will advise only her

Hard to say exactly, but I feel like it'll be the former.

The monologue from the start repeats at the end, but it doesn't even use anything like a personal pronoun in the raw to make a comparison from. (I debated myself whether it was better to translate that from a first person perspective or from an external perspective, but it seemed consistent with Mana's later internal monologues.)

So you could read it as the same narrator repeating themselves with a continuation at the end, or a new narrator thinking the same thought. Personally, I think the way the chapter ends with another student calling out to the janitor indicates it's a new person, but of course I didn't want to suggest that in any way in the translation since it's unclear.

We'll find out in a couple weeks, I guess.

What a heavy subject. Ikuta feels so loss because of society's inability to understand her. They're projecting what they think of her, so she has to act like that. She wasn't a badass brave teenager, she was a scared girl who was desperately looking for an escape.

She isn't being lazy by studying at coffee shops. She isn't a bad student because she's always late. She's doing her best, her way.

Fushimi's a kind person. She never once tried to say what Ikuta was feeling. She just let her spit out everything she was thinking. She really needed someone to listen to. I wonder, what is her history with Kobayashi anyway?

Despite her lowly job, she's well respected. Fushimi's great! She doesn't have any resentments, she just keeps being a good person, despite the position she's in.

oh my god i wanna punch the parents and teachers in their face like WTF, “we lucked out”????? “a painful experience can be a good wake up call”????? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. at least show some serious concern for the situation instead of an inconvenience you want to quickly brush over. Even the female cops were nonchalant and relaxed about it??? i would expect them, as women to be more empathetic….

Ranting about awful people aside, i think its really cool how delicately the author handled this kind of topic without getting too graphic, yet still managed to communicate the experience of SA and the aftermath from the pov of a highschool girl and address the topic respectfully and in depth in a way that any viewer could understand and empathize as well as recognize what was wrong with the way she was treated and how her feelings should not have been invalidated like that.

The way the author handled such a heavy topic as sa hints that maybe we are witnessing the birth of a masterpiece
