(tho I hear it’s uncommon for schools to have janitors so kids learn to pick up after themselves; that said even if that’s practical you’d think there’d be a janitor -group cleaning duty split amongst the teachers for “dangerous” spills like in a chemistry class or a huge unreasonable mess bc of accidents or like a nurse cleaning up vomit or so since it’s a bit cruel to force a student if they get sick enough to puke on the floor if they don’t

Ahh, I thought it might be the Hario, that's what I have. But the only one I've ever had a good look at is mine so it's hard to tell if it's more like another one.

Not sure if Janitor ever was the right term for Fushimi, you're right janitor is mostly like "a commercial facility cleaner", but Fushimi is more like a maintenance woman, or building superintendent.

Yeah it makes sense if she has other odd jobs here and there b/c i imagine it'd be a pain if a janitor mopping the floors was expected to like fix a power outage versus something more ' basic' like changing out a light bulb

japan has pretty good salary for school workers. it's not lavish, but above minimum wages. also you can take side job as well.

japan urban area is actually more costly than any US mega city. the difference is rent price control and lack of monopoly. food does much more affordable tho. also because lack of monopoly.
