Search option for searching within the threads...

Instead of making a new thread... is there a way to search for threads that already been posted here?
So I don't need to wait for someone to reply... I can just read the old thread if some issue surfaces...

@Plykiya In the interim, why don't you guys use a custom Google search?
I looked it up, it might cost $50 per day.

There is a plan to implement this functionality in the future.

In the mean time, the pages of past comments are not yet so many that it is impractical to page through them and perform a text search of titles, which will identify most past suggestions of this-or-that sort. And there is a list of planned and rejected ideas in a thread pinned in second-place of this forum.

The programming problem of searching the underlying database is a straightforward, it's just a matter of the developers getting to after dealing with other goals.

@Oeconomist I figured that it would be like making a cake versus buying a cake. Making a cake is rather simple, if you have the time. On the other hand, you might wind up buying a lot of cakes. Up to $50 worth of "cake" per day, or $1,500 spent on "cake" per month.

The admins have said that the developers plan to create a search function for these threads. I don't know how sophisticated it is planned to be.
