I feel like they made the villain way too understandable and I'm empathetic to her reasons for committing an uprising more than I am the main character's plight to survive, honestly. Do I think it's right? Of course not. But seeing the main character talk to her after learning the history of the empire and about how witches were treated and come to zero conclusions, have no smart questions to ask, nor have any deeper nuance or emotional understanding made me quite frustrated. The main character doesn't feel like a person. For that reason, I'm dropping this.
