What a journey. I'm glad the end scene was with his daughter instead of one of his fling.
The thing is that for all of his reputation of being a man slut I think that's really only in the first maybe three volumes. He was pretty serious and exclusive with Suzukamo in the Kyoto arc in volumes 4 and 5 and obviously with Kumiko. There was plenty of times after the first few volumes where he outright passed up opportunities presented to him (Suzukamo's sister, Kumiko's mother, Kashimura's wife, Laura, maybe some others I'm forgetting) and the ones I can remember (the woman who ran the restaurant and Sofia Cervantes) were basically forced on him. Once Kumiko entered the scene she was more or less his only real love interest. I'm actually a bit disappointed we didn't get anything with her and Nami meeting AFAIK.

I am glad it ended with him and Nami though. The poor girl's spent most of her life being kind of neglected and disappointed from everything we've seen so it's nice that we finally get to see her spend a Christmas with her dad and enjoy some quality time with him at the end. The author acknowledged it as well: that Shima's a success as a businessman but a failure as a family man so it'll be interesting to see if that failure starts to get turned around in Division Chief. Hope Igarashi finally gets some stuff going his way too. He's a good guy but every time he showed up in Section Chief, life always seemed to find a way to dump on him.

Thank you for the work scanslating this, it was very well done considering the subtly complex dialog and story. Will you guys be moving on to the next Shima series, or will you go back and work on Young Shima? The latter has been neglected for some time and is technically earlier in Shima's life, but it was published after Division Chief Shima Kousaku.

A wonderful series, something different from all the generic isekai and romcoms of today.
Thank you guys for doing this!

The plan is to do Division Chief next. I'm not gonna plan any sorta long-term thing because just doing that is gonna take over a year and I kind of probably over-did it with Section Chief with how fast we got it out so I might go slower.

Also I wanna focus on the "main" series so people don't get the wrong idea and think you're supposed to start the series with "Young Shima" which you're really not, as they're meant to be prequels.

Take your time and don't get burnt out. It's definitely not a "battle sound effects with fighting move call outs" shounen type of translation, that's for sure. Although I do appreciate the volume dumps you guys did, that is a nice way to read the series. If we only get them every three months or so, it'd be worth the wait.

A great series, thanks for scanlating.

I have to say, every time Shima would let people distract him from his daughter it was pretty sad. It's good they got to spend Christmas together, but I hope Shima will be more involved with her in the future.

What a ride, it really had that 80s SOVL vibe and despite how much stuff happened the author was great at making it all quite immersive. Love the ending, a bit sad about Kyoto though and hopefully Cosmo hires Bob to do some work.

Thanks for translating this incredible series.
