I'm still left reeling, each time I read this, by the idea that this world has things like amaretto and vermouth, and yet apparently have just... never mixed different things together?
I'd understand if we were working with a caveman culture, or a group of people who don't 'cook' at all, but man you really need to work your suspension of disbelief muscles for this one.
