Reading this, the axe felt long overdue anyway. Only one chapter left until the series can be put to rest.

I have only done a rudimentary internet search, but it seems like the manga has covered most of the first two novel volumes. There is still a third volume, but the novel has been on hiatus since 2021. So the manga would have run out of source material in another 10-15 chapters anyway and would have likely ended on a different, but equally disappointing part. So no point in dragging this out.
