This seems most likely. This reads like the kind of small error that could easily slip through proofreading, and can easily crop up when working in two languages. And it's a perfectly grammatical sentence, so it's not going to get caught by any software. Also, you know, it flows better with the conversation around it.

Taking it at face value does seem pretty hilarious though.
