Normal language is redundant. It helps with understanding it. However, just "give me power" with various phrasings doesn't say what the purpose is, so they could naturally be confused as to what they're supposed to do. That's why they use context to understand it.

Good news for those who want to read the WN, is that it have been picked up and the translation is good. The bad news is that the old chapters have not fully translated yet. It goes up to chapter 105 (chapter 78 of the manga) and then to chapter 446 where the old translation have stopped.

Interesting to hear how chants work. I'm sure there's a way to change it to properly convey intent while keeping the vibe, but Yuuta just going with "you should drop the chant altogether because it is too confusing" feels extremely blunt.

Even more so when she would do well with keeping a chant to go through her family. After all, if they're all supposed to contract Meraru, at least having an universal "language" to communicate with him while they build rapport would do more good than harm, specially for something like a blacksmith which can start off with less demanding/more generic instructions while they learn.
