Thank you so much for the translations Asmodeus scans!!! This mass upload has been so good.

Excited to see how this is going, they’re nailing down the foundation pretty well.

Interesting, it seemed even in the OG game this route was a thing. Although I can’t blame the MC for fucking up even when he knew about it, since clicking buttons doesn’t translate well into charisma lol

Things I noticed that might have affected the affection points: three-character event, pushing her towards talking together instead of going on a proper date, “are you sure?”, “go take a shower”, immediately bringing up the topic about her motivations, and mentioning the resistance.

Although he might’ve clutched with the “it’s better than just letting you die”

Author's really going out of their way to make the empire seem truly despicable, aren't they?
Also notable that the good country being occupied is culturally Japanese. Always great to see manga portray Japan-like countries as victims and never as aggressors or even as equally bad. The lawless ones are always the evil (usually western) Empire guys. Nanjing? Is that some food?

I don't read either, so I'm not sure why I should particularly care whether or not they have the same problem. Nor does it excuse the same trend in manga.

Not to mention that the way Western comics sometimes tend to portray their own countries in a better light is fundamentally different from how Japanese manga do it. Both are twisted in their own way, but bringing up the former in a discussion about the latter is pure whataboutism and completely irrelevant.

And finally, not all manga do this. Good manga (and anime) tend not to do this. If all you consume is media where Japan is overly glorified or portrayed as victim, maybe you should start consuming better media. Here's a recommendation: watch Paranoia Agent, an anime precisely about the topic of Japanese victimhood.
