We got the backstory when Thera was revived, this was a regular scientific world having a resource crisis, so the Goddess of Earth Tera gave them the dungeon core hidden deep underground, and all hell broke loose as people fought over its power, rampant wishing on it changed the world to what it is now then Tera went Evil and got sealed away.
