Are you thinking of the Mori clan that Katsuzou/Nagayoshi is from? (Mori: 森氏) there's another huge clan to the west also called the Mori (Mori: 毛利氏) who rules the lands around Aki Province, they were one of the big players during the sengoku period, they still have descendants to this day i think.

They were the big enemy that Hideyoshi was tasked by Nobunaga to make battle with before the Honnoji incident.

It's far later, in the real History, after Oda's death and Hideyoshi's take over and ending of the reunification of Japan.

I'm gonna call it now as well. Akechi Mitsuhide betrays and somehow manages to "kill" Oda, Shizuko and her close friends through underhanded means. Without Shizuko, most of her inventions, teachings, way of doing things, etc. are lost. Historical records somehow gets lost or manipulated by jealous lords, so future generations never even knew Shizuko existed in feudal Japan.

Back in our time, Oda, Shizuko and her friends pop out of thin air. Instead of dying, they ended up getting teleported to the future. A few years pass, Oda somehow becomes Prime Minister of Japan and appoints Shizuko as Deputy Prime Minister of Japan against her wishes. Other friends of Shizuko like Ashimitsu also end up in positions of power such as being a Cabinet minister.
